Implicit bias and racism directly shape everyone’s perception of themselves and others. People must be actively aware of how historical and contemporary structural racism - economic, cultural, political, and geographic - impacts power inequalities, access to resources, and student outcomes. Through introspection and self-reflection, staff members are better equipped to integrate racial equity, healing, and cross-racial community building in all spaces of their everyday work.
