As a Baltimore City Public Schools Blueprint Intensive Site, the PSC has had the opportunity to explore how to align PSC strategies with the district’s approach to Social and Emotional Learning and Restorative Practices. Two members of George Washington’s leadership team have become certified Restorative Practices and Virtues Project trainers. The PSC is working with school leaders to integrate these strategies into all areas of school life, from announcements and weekly community celebrations incentivizing positive behaviors, to the school’s vision. The PSC has co-facilitated training sessions with district and school-based staff, and the success of the partnership was recently highlighted in a WMAR news segment. The partnership between George Washington and the PSC has continued to expand as the PSC became their lead agency for Community Schools and hired a full-time licensed social worker as a Community School Coordinator to promote collaboration with parents, build community partnerships, and help build a school climate that responds to the holistic interests of students.
